Important topics discussed:
First order of business, we welcomed our new members, 'Wumni and Emily, to the group. I think they're both very excited to join, and we're glad they came!
Secondly, the Young Democrats of America are having their next conference in Jackson on November 17-19. The conference registration fee of $25 per person includes lunch on Saturday and all training materials, but doesn't include the hotel room fees, which are at a special rate of $129. I checked the site just a few minutes ago to se if they had more information on what will be going on and whatnot, but they still have up everything for the spring conference. See here. We also discussed ways we could get financial support from a few local members of the community to get to Jackson if we decide to go.
Next we started brainstorming ideas for fundraisers we can do this year. I told the group about the pancake breakfast at Applebee's. If any of you are unaware if what that is, a club contacts Applebee's (I'll have all that info soon, I swear!) and tells them we want to host a pancake breakfast. Someone (either us or Applebee's) chooses whatever Saturday morning is best. The club then gives $129+/- to Applebee's, and we sell tickets for five dollars. The maximum number of ticket you can sell is 400, but the money you make from them is straight profit. (400 tickets x $5 = $2000 - $129 payment = $1871)
We also talked about things we could do for charity, but most of it was just brainstorming.
The rest of the time was spent with Mrs. Allen and Mr. Gault interrupting our meeting.
